Howard Hertz started his own tax practice in 1988 in San Leandro. In 1995 he moved and incorporated his practice. A graduate of California State University at Hayward, he always knew he wanted to help people from being taken advantage of by the complex tax system. He passed the Enrolled Agent examinations in 1992.

Unlike attorneys or CPAs, Enrolled Agents specialize only in taxation. An Enrolled Agent is the only representative for taxpayers who receives that right from the U.S. government (CPAs and attorneys are licensed by the states).

What does the term Enrolled Agent mean?

"Enrolled" simply means EAs are licensed by the federal government. "Agent" means EAs are authorized to appear in place of the taxpayer at the Internal Revenue Service.

But, it doesn't stop there! Howard and his staff are attending courses throughout the year in order to better meet clients' ongoing financial needs. Continuing professional education keeps everyone abreast of the changing financial climates.
